Hello, and welcome!

I'm Cat Grant, erotic romance author, and proud owner of this brand, spankin' new blog. I don't know how often I'll be posting here, since I'm really not that much of a social butterfly. There are already so many authors who are avid bloggers and online chatters. While I admire them for their mad multitasking skillz, I have to wonder, "When do they find time to write their books?"

Here's the story of my writing career, in a nutshell: I've spent 10+ years writing fan fiction in one form or another (mostly X-Files and Smallville). Around 2004, I developed crippling arthritis in both knees, which rendered me unable to work outside my home. I'd been trying to crack the professional writing markets off and on for a few years, but, with my husband's encouragement, I decided now was the time to get serious about it. After 5+ years of continuous rejection, my first novel, a m/m/f menage a trois romance entitled The Arrangement, was published this past May by Lyrical Press.

My m/m novella, Strictly Business followed this past September. By Chance, a m/m short novel, is in the pipeline for February 2009.

I'm a fan of: Organic food, green tea, my husband, cats, chocolate (which I can't eat anymore! *sob*), Tori Amos, Kate Bush, progressive American politics, Keith Olbermann, Rachel Maddow, m/m romance novels, Smart Bitches Trashy Books, my Macbook Pro, various TV shows (Smallville, Supernatural, Chuck, Heroes, Dexter, Stargate Atlantis, etc.), movies, book and DVD collecting.

Definitely not a fan of: the Twilight saga by Stephenie Meyer (aka, bad writing passing itself off as The Hot New Thing), bad writing in general, chatterboxes (aka, people who talk a lot but never say anything), the Dear Author blog, sweltering hot weather, freezing cold weather, knee pain, stairs, heights, large groups of people (I'm mildly agoraphobic), spending the night away from home.

So, now I've not only outed myself as a geek, but opinionated and neurotic as well. Not much different from anybody else's blog! ;)

I'll probably be posting a short essay on the differences between fan fiction writing and pro writing, and how I had to learn a lot of new skills to make the transition, within the next day or so.

Thanks for reading. ;)

Hey, Lisa. Yeah, it kinda scares me too. I don't know what I'm going to say - I'm really a rather boring person!

Regardless if you consider yourself a "rather boring person" or not, your blog got a smile out of me.

If your future blogs are anything like the first, you'll do just fine.

Keep it up, you're off on the right foot!
